Solidifying the Bond Between Mother and Baby

At AdventHealth Daytona Beach we’re dedicated to helping new mothers successfully breastfeed their new babies. As a result of this commitment, we have received international recognition as a Baby-Friendly® designated birth facility. AdventHealth Daytona Beach is the only hospital in Volusia County to earn the Baby-Friendly designation from Baby-Friendly USA, Inc., a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The accreditation certifies that AdventHealth Daytona Beach adheres to a set of evidence-based practices shown to support breastfeeding mothers and their babies.

As a Baby-Friendly® hospital, we implement immediate skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby.

We also help new moms initiate breastfeeding within one hour of birth. And our assistance doesn’t end after you’ve returned home. We offer educational breastfeeding support groups to help women throughout their journey.

Based on the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding, this award recognizes birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.
